Light of the Soul United Church of Christ (LSUCC) was initially envisioned in June of 2004 and incorporated in August of 2004 as Light of the Soul Christian Ministries (LSCM), with a desire to broadcast the Good News of God’s love for all people. This may sound like a cliché since we hear so much about “open and affirming” ministries, but Light of the Soul strives to be a different kind of ministry. Today, Light of the Soul’s name has changed but our desire to proclaim the Good News has not. In November of 2007, Light of the Soul proudly affiliated with the United Church of Christ. The people of Light of the Soul want to be about God’s business in complete acceptance of who God created us to be and we are striving to reclaim Christianity as an inclusive Spirituality, not the exclusive model we have heard so much about. We believe in diversity of community and desire to build a model of what the true body of Christ should look like; a coat of many colors, as diverse as all of God’s creation. Can you imagine a place where nothing else matters but our longing for a closer relationship with God? A place where we can gather in one accord to worship the One who yearns for our acknowledgment? A place where you walk out with a sense of how valuable you are? A place where God knows your name?

Light of the Soul began with 6 people and continues to grow with 52 current members and over 100 friends / supporters.

Jesus the Christ is the cornerstone of Light of the Soul United Church of Christ.

We believe in the God that Jesus emulated.  A compassionate, understanding and accepting God who loves justice and mercy.

We believe in the God who calls to all of the “whosoevers” regardless of our ethnicity, gender or sexual orientation.

We believe in Jesus whose validation of us releases God’s promised inheritance for those who choose to receive it.

We believe in a very personal God who cares about every part of our lives.
